Hello,
I'm really hoping that someone can assist me with my problem. About a year ago I purchased for my parents accommodation business (camp ground) a ZyXel N4100 hotspot router.
The device works brilliantly, does exactly what is needed, till now. A big bonus is that onceset up, it is easy for the non tech savy parents to push a button, issue a ticket, and not worry about how it works on the inside.
On initial set up I ascertained that the WiFi broadcast is not strong enough to reach all areas of the camp ground when the device is situated at the reception desk along side the printer.
So.. I turned the WiFi broadcast off. I have then run a Ethernet cable up to the roof where it is connected to a wireless access point, and the AP has external antennas.
The system worked great, but when I set it all up I was present on site and could access the wireless access point admin IP address by being a client of the access point.
The business has now geographically expanded, some customers are outside the range of the access point, so I want to install 2 further access points in wireless bridge mode, all on the same LAN of the N4100 device.
The problem I have is that I am trying to access the AP via the office computer (remotely via Teamviewer). The N4100 is not allowing me to access the admin page of the AP.
I am aware that there is layer 2 isolation in place and that the N4100 acts as its own DHCP server so I have taken the following steps..
1)N4100 is now set to “DHCP relay” pointed at 10.1.1.1 being the home ADSL router DHCP server.
2)Layer 2 isolation security now is turned off.
3)Network Address Translation (NAT) is now turned off.
4)I have set the MAC address of the AP to being on the LAN DEVICE PASS THROUGH list on the N4100.
Still not having any luck here.
Under connected devices I am seeing 192.168.1.3 (the access point) and 192.168.1.7 (the printer), but cannot get a connection direct to the admin page of the access point.
What I am wanting to do is access the wireless access point so I can set it into bridge mode, and I know that it is the N4100 that is stopping me.
Could anyone please offer some guidance??
With many thanks.
